Jaz watched as the morning sun slipped up over the horizon. It would be setting about now back on her home planet, an incongruity her sisters, who slept peacefully on either side of her, had not yet grown accustomed to. Yawning herself awake, she watched the rising, letting the sun’s warmth comfort her as she daydreamed of home and family and rescue from the dispassionate splendor surrounding her.

Little did she know that so many of her kindred had sought similar refuge from the cold and unforgiving in, what will prove to be, a most wondrous world. All she had to do now was rest and take nourishment, for rescue was not far off.
